Time to crack open chapter 2, in this Book of James NIV Bible Study and Commentary. With a lot of help from the Douglas Moo Commentary, we gleaned a lot from the text.
Not unlike the first chapter, the second chapter of James is jam-packed with a ton of practical insights for how to live the gospel in your everyday life. But, in trying to get these videos to be more "burst-like" in their length (something I failed to do in the first video), we wanted to focus our energies on a couple of main highlights from this text. Specifically, God's greatest commandment and our curse under the law.
As we dive into the details of these verses, we pull cross references from both John and Galatians. In doing so, we hear Jesus tell us himself how important it is to love our neighbors as ourselves, and we are reminded of God's demand for perfection - a perfection that we alone could never give Him.
Diving into greater detail in these subsequent chapters shows us that a Book of James Study is more than just a discussion centered around faith and works.
