Removing Damaged Wood Flooring
Cutting out old flooring in tight spaces can be difficult but not with a Dremel rotary tool. To accomplish this we'll use a Dremel 400 series XPR, the right angle attachment and a #543 cutting wheel. You could also use any Dremel rotary tool that works with all attachments.
First mark the area you wish to cut, then attach the right angle attachment and in this case a #543 cutting wheel. With the tool running at full speed make your cut as outlines of the diameter of the cutting wheel. This will allow you to make up to a half-inch deep cut. Because this is a free hand cut if you wish to set a shorter depth, a spare piece of wood the thickness of the depth you wish to make can be used as a guide. Dust the area clean then pry up with a putty knife, chisel, screwdriver, or pry bar.
Here's some extra thoughts on removing damaged flooring. Try not to hit old nails with your cutting wheel as this may damage the wheel. Let the cutting wheel do the work. This will help maintain a steady hold on the tool. For deeper cuts you can use the #EZ544.
