It's one of the age old questions: cardio before or after weights for weight loss? Is that the same as asking - cardio before or after weights for FAT LOSS? While an important question, the answer is actually quite simple - it's all about intensity.

If we think in terms of steady state cardio vs HIIT, then the cardio or lifting first, or the cardio or weights first decision becomes much easier to make. Generally speaking, cardio after weights is the better choice because it will allow you to allocate the most amount of energy to your training, a very important consideration, without getting into a full blow hypertrophy vs strength training vs fat loss discussion.
So, if you're doing HIIT, then you definitely want to reserve that type of cardio for post-training.
